Holiday Park De Krim is 50 years old in 2020. A special occasion that deserves celebration! And there’s so much more happening on Texel, like the anniversary edition of the Beach Food Festival. In the new exposition ‘Ship in Sight – the Roads of Texel and the World’, the Roads of Texel come alive.

1. Park De Krim Celebrates its 50th Birthday

In May, Holiday Park De Krim will be 50 years old. To celebrate this milestone, several festive activities and events will be taking place at our park throughout the year. On Saturday, 9 May, there will be an open day with all kinds of things going on. For now, though, we’re keeping under wraps exactly what. Keep an eye on our website for the celebration schedule! 2. Ship in sight – The roads of Texel and the world

In the new exposition ‘Ship in Sight – the Roads of Texel and the World’, the Roads of Texel come alive. An entirely new dimension has been added to the world’s largest maritime scale model. The hidden stories about the 160 ships have become visible, thanks to new technique. They show that the Roads of Texel was the logistic hub of the seventeenth century.

Come to Museum Kaap Skil and join the voyages of the whalers, fluyt ships and warships which once lay on the Roads of Texel. Museum Kaap Skil  

3. SBS 6 Grand Garden Renovation at Holiday Park De Krim

Lodewijk Hoekstra, the gardener of the SBS 6 television programme De Grote Tuinverbouwing, will join forces with De Krim Texel and the Dutch forestry commission Staatsbosbeheer to transform De Krim’s current farmyard and the adjacent woods into a pleasant place for play and sports. Obviously, all the animals will return but only after the entire yard has been sustainably relandscaped. You can follow the developments each week on SBS 6 until the end of May. 

De Grote Tuinverbouwing [The Grand Garden Renovation] is broadcast from 5 p.m. until 6.30 p.m. on Saturdays and retransmitted on Sunday mornings from 9.30 until 11.00 am. Each episode contains three slots with ‘Lodewijks Groene Geluk’ [Lodewijk’s Green Fortune], which feature images of Holiday Park De Krim and Texel. The Grand Garden Renovation

4. ABBA Europe Gold

On 8 February 2020, ABBA Europe Gold will perform at Event Hall Texel. Its a unique production that has been described by critics as ‘the best ABBA show after the original ABBA’. An orchestra of top musicians, the latest special effects and video screens create the perfect ABBA experience that’s unsurpassed worldwide. Sing along to hits like Mamma Mia, Waterloo, Money Money Money and Dancing Queen. Experience the unique sound that has made this Swedish pop band legendary. 6. Texel Pop

Texel Pop 2020 on Saturday, 28 March at Event Hall Texel promises to be more impressive and high-tech than ever before. 

There will be much to enjoy for lovers of Dutch pop music at this year’s edition with a line-up of bands and artists from the island of Texel itself: from rock to blues, from ballads to funk, a different band will take to the stage every 40 minutes. 

Texel Pop was first organised forty years ago in De Wezentuin in Den Burg. In 2020, the Texel bands will perform at Event Hall Texel. The venue boasts an ultramodern light and sound system and all the other facilities needed to make the festival a smashing success. Video footage of previous editions of Texel Pop will be shown on a big screen above the stage. Texel Pop 

7. 75 Years’ Liberation

On Tuesday, 5 May 2020, it will be precisely 75 years ago that the Netherlands was liberated from German occupation. In addition to the annual celebrations and remembrance ceremonies, several extra activities are being organised to mark this special anniversary.

Among them on 5 May will be a fly by, during which historic military aircraft will skim across the island. This special morning will commence with coffee and cake on Groeneplaats, accompanied by music performed by KTF, D.E.K and Artex. Parachutists will be landing in the vicinity of Bunker Texla with a liberation flag. A procession of old army vehicles will subsequently take the flag along a liberation route. In the afternoon, cafes, bars and restaurants will hold a liberation tasting session. Two stages - the Glazen Paleis among them - will host live music. A free ‘Anjerconcert’ performed by the Rotterdam Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy will be given at Event Hall Texel on 29 May.

8. Beach Food Festival Anniversary Edition

From Friday 24 until Sunday 26 July, the Beach Food Festival will celebrate its 5th birthday with an anniversary edition on the Wadden beach at Oudeschild. Eat, drink, dance and enjoy all the things that make life for the locals on Texel an island life. Enjoy a nice cold drink and savour the smells and tastes of fresh Texel cockles, the beach BBQ, the smoker and gorgeous Wadden Sea oysters. And there’s much more going on. So... get your flip-flops out of the cupboard and celebrate life at this sustainable festival. Beach Food Festival  

9. Villa with Swimming Pool in De Koog

2020 will see the completion of construction work at villa park De Koog. Come and experience for yourself what it’s like to have your own swimming pool and sauna. The sustainably-built villa’s offer much comfort and luxury. You don’t have to book in at reception, for instance. Instead, an entrance code is emailed to you in advance; our hostess will visit you later with a welcome pack.
