De Krim Texel celebrated its 50th anniversary at the beginning of May this year. During this period we have grown from a small emergency campsite to a recreational company with nine operations spread across the whole island. There is now a healthy organisation, of which we are incredibly proud. Unfortunately we had to postpone the festive activities to celebrate our golden jubilee until autumn 2020 on Texel. In the new exposition ‘Ship in Sight – the Roads of Texel and the World’, the Roads of Texel come alive. An entirely new dimension has been added to the world’s largest maritime scale model. The hidden stories about the 160 ships have become visible, thanks to new technique. They show that the Roads of Texel was the logistic hub of the seventeenth century.
Come to Museum Kaap Skil and join the voyages of the whalers, fluyt ships and warships which once lay on the Roads of Texel.
Lodewijk Hoekstra, the gardener of the SBS 6 television programme De Grote Tuinverbouwing, has joined forces with De Krim Texel and the Dutch forestry commission Staatsbosbeheer to transform De Krim’s farmyard and the adjacent woods into a pleasant place for play and sports. Naturally, all kinds of animals have also returned to the yard and given it a sustainable character. Until late June, viewers were able to follow developments there weekly on SBS6 in the De Grote Tuinverbouwing programme. You can watch the episodes here.

NatuurStruûnen De Hors. Together with local guide Marcel you will discover the secrets of De Hors on Texel. This vast stretch of beach is located at the southern tip of Texel. The route crosses beautiful landscapes with a unique history. You will go on a three-hour expedition with the Tx guide and experience a unique piece of Texel. Along the way you will encounter all kinds of animals and plants with their own story.

In a natural garden in Oosterend , you can search for ingredients to prepare a delicious dinner. Using what you harvested, you can get to work (with supervision) making a meal or a nice cup of tea. This is an active and educational activity with a particular focus on the outdoors and good food.

The TexelMap app is a handy tool when holidaying on Texel during corona times. Now that fewer people are able to visit one place at the same time and that we have to keep a bit more distance from one another, it’s handy to know what places are busy and which ones are still open. The app shows in advance how many visitors are expected at the Texel hotspots, so that you can choose a quiet spot and reserve an available time slot at the locations you would like to visit, so that you can be sure that you can go there. The ZOUT Artists' Association usually organises an exhibition called Zomerzout in May. Unfortunately, that’s not currently possible. ZOUT member Peter Ampt came up with the idea of launching a digital exhibition. In this digital exhibition you can admire the various artworks of ZOUT members.
