On Texel, too, the highlights for 2020 naturally look different as a result of the corona measures. Many fun small-scale activities are planned, restaurants are delivering meals and with the handy Texelmap app you can easily find out which Texel hotspots still have room for visitors and at what time of the day. This way you’re sure to have a great holiday on Texel in 2020, and you’re certain to have plenty to do.

1. Park De Krim Celebrates its 50th Birthday
De Krim Texel celebrated its 50th anniversary at the beginning of May this year. During this period we have grown from a small emergency campsite to a recreational company with nine operations spread across the whole island. There is now a healthy organisation, of which we are incredibly proud. Unfortunately we had to postpone the festive activities to celebrate our golden jubilee until autumn 2020 on Texel. 2. Ship in sight – The roads of Texel and the world
In the new exposition ‘Ship in Sight – the Roads of Texel and the World’, the Roads of Texel come alive. An entirely new dimension has been added to the world’s largest maritime scale model. The hidden stories about the 160 ships have become visible, thanks to new technique. They show that the Roads of Texel was the logistic hub of the seventeenth century.
Come to Museum Kaap Skil and join the voyages of the whalers, fluyt ships and warships which once lay on the Roads of Texel.
3. SBS 6 Grand Garden Renovation at Holiday Park De Krim
Lodewijk Hoekstra, the gardener of the SBS 6 television programme De Grote Tuinverbouwing, has joined forces with De Krim Texel and the Dutch forestry commission Staatsbosbeheer to transform De Krim’s farmyard and the adjacent woods into a pleasant place for play and sports. Naturally, all kinds of animals have also returned to the yard and given it a sustainable character. Until late June, viewers were able to follow developments there weekly on SBS6 in the De Grote Tuinverbouwing programme. You can watch the episodes here.

4. Discover the secrets of De Hors
NatuurStruûnen De Hors. Together with local guide Marcel you will discover the secrets of De Hors on Texel. This vast stretch of beach is located at the southern tip of Texel. The route crosses beautiful landscapes with a unique history. You will go on a three-hour expedition with the Tx guide and experience a unique piece of Texel. Along the way you will encounter all kinds of animals and plants with their own story.
5. Organise your own activity
Organising your own activity with your family or friends is great fun. And the possibilities on Texel in 2020 are endless. A day out on a Solex, a bike puzzle tour along the sights of Texel, a power kiting clinic, a hexathlon on the beach followed by a barbecue... What will your special Texel 2020 activity be? 6. Making dinner from nature
In a natural garden in Oosterend , you can search for ingredients to prepare a delicious dinner. Using what you harvested, you can get to work (with supervision) making a meal or a nice cup of tea. This is an active and educational activity with a particular focus on the outdoors and good food.
7. Eating out in your own accommodation
Eat out in your own, cosy holiday home, in front of your tent or on the beach. During your Texel holiday in 2020, you can enjoy delicious dishes from your favourite restaurant in your own home, tent or caravan. 8. App indicates crowds on Texel
The TexelMap app is a handy tool when holidaying on Texel during corona times. Now that fewer people are able to visit one place at the same time and that we have to keep a bit more distance from one another, it’s handy to know what places are busy and which ones are still open. The app shows in advance how many visitors are expected at the Texel hotspots, so that you can choose a quiet spot and reserve an available time slot at the locations you would like to visit, so that you can be sure that you can go there. 9. Villa with Swimming Pool in De Koog
2020 will see the completion of construction work at villa park De Koog. Come and experience for yourself what it’s like to have your own swimming pool and sauna. The sustainably-built villa’s offer much comfort and luxury. You don’t have to book in at reception, for instance. Instead, an entrance code is emailed to you in advance; our hostess will visit you later with a welcome pack. 10. Digital art exhibition ZOUT
The ZOUT Artists' Association usually organises an exhibition called Zomerzout in May. Unfortunately, that’s not currently possible. ZOUT member Peter Ampt came up with the idea of launching a digital exhibition. In this digital exhibition you can admire the various artworks of ZOUT members.
