Did you always want to know how a day in the life of a real fisherman looks like? Step on board the TX10 or TX20 in the harbour of Oudeschild and discover all the interesting things that get caught in the fishermen’s nets. Listen to the amazing stories of the fisherman and learn about all the inhabitants of the sea. The shrimps that get caught will be cooked while still being on board and can be tasted immediately afterwards. One of the few opportunities to eat shrimps that fresh! You also have the opportunity to go seal watching or explore the mud flats during an excursion. Guaranteed fun for young and old.
Texel is best discovered by bike which brings you past all the hidden treasures that the Texel has to offer. Next to 140 km of normal bike routes, there is now a 100 km long MTB route leading across the entire island, through the forest via polder and past numerous villages. The route starts at the boat and leads over the west coast of Texel to the most northern point of the Island. From there on the way back leads over the dike near the Wadden Sea. Until spring 2019 the way back is only partly accessible due to construction works but from then on the route will lead you over the Wadden Sea Dike past the villages of Oudeschild, Oosterend and De Waal back to the starting point.

Texel is known for its diversity of bird species due to its tactical good place for migratory birds as well as offering good breeding opportunities and food. During the Wadden Bird Festival from the 10th of May until the 12th of May 2019, you can compete against many other bird-fans and try to find the most bird species. With more than 400 different species that can be found on Texel, this is a great event for everyone that enjoys a challenge, being in nature and of course has a passion for birds. "Lange Juni" is the month of culture on Texel with lots of music, culture and art. From cabaret over art exhibitions to music performances – the programme offers something for everyone. The highlight of this culture month is the music festival “Sommeltjespop” which takes place in De Waal. Come and enjoy the cosy atmosphere and events on Texel in the month of June.
Texel is known for its long, vast sand beaches. Even in the high season there is more than enough space to build sand castles, to fly a kite or just relax in the sun. In case you are more at home in the water than on land: try Kitesurfing, Surfing or Windsurfing! And at the end of the day many cozy beach cafes offer the possibility to sit down and let the day rewind with a hot chocolate or a Texels bier!
From mid-February 2019 children can enjoy the vacation to the fullest in the new indoor play paradise at Holiday Park De Krim. For our smallest guests a brand-new, exciting and adventurous playground is being set up, where the children can play to their hearts content. Slides, climbing possibilities, tunnels and rope ladders are only some of the things the children can discover here. The "Ronde om Texel" is the biggest catamaran race in the world. Roughly 300 catamaran sailors come to Texel to challenge each other and find out who can sail a complete round around Texel the fastest. But also for those that do not want to sail themselves the event is a big spectacle. 10.000 people come together to watch and cheer the sailors on. Places like the light house, the dike in Oosterend, the NOIZ and the harbour of Oudeschild are perfect to watch the catamarans passing by. The event will take place on the 22nd of June 2019.

Small stages with live music at various locations in Den Burg. That’s Texelblues ! From the 12th until the 14th October, numerous blues musicians from the Netherlands and abroad will perform in Den Burgs bars and restaurants. Music lovers will be able to enjoy this weekend to the fullest. The cosy atmosphere and the top musicians will make for some unforgettable evenings. Whether it is a big or small location, acoustic or electrical guitar, there is something for everyone’s music taste. Wander from bar to bar and enjoy everything the Texel blues has to offer.
