Golf Course De Texelse once again awarded Green Key Gold

Golf Course De Texelse has once again been awarded the Green Key gold certificate. This is a wonderful recognition of all the sustainable steps we have taken in recent years. It shows that enjoying golf and caring for nature and the environment can go hand in hand. We want to be an inspiring example for everyone who values recreation and sustainability.

Sustainable enjoyment on the golf course

Golf Course De Texelse has held the Green Key Gold certification since 2022. Green Key is the international certification for sustainable businesses in the recreation sector. Only organisations that meet strict requirements in areas such as energy, water, waste, mobility and nature conservation are eligible. There are three levels within this certification: bronze, silver and gold. De Texelse Golf Course can therefore count itself among the frontrunners.

Examples of sustainable measures

The golf course operates sustainably in various ways, with respect for nature and the environment. Some examples:

  • The water storage facility on the site collects rainwater from the adjacent De Krim Holiday Park. This basin has a capacity of 15,000 m³ and is covered with solar panels that generate sustainable electricity.
  • There are charging stations for electric cars in the car park.
  • Insect hotels have been installed to enhance biodiversity on the grounds.
  • Thanks to its location between nature reserves, the golf course is home to rare bird and plant species, such as the sand martin and the whinchat.
  • Local bus transport stops right outside the door.
  • Restaurant 't Hanenhuus uses organic and local products.
