What could be better than going on holiday with the whole family, including your dog? Enjoy the fresh sea air together on the beach. Run along the shoreline, play in the sea or walk through the dunes, it’s all possible here. All our parks border the National Park, so you can step straight into nature with your dog.

Texel is an ideal holiday destination with a dog. There is plenty of space and nature. Dogs are allowed to run free on many parts of Texel's beaches (see instructions on site). Want to grab a terrace after a walk? Many restaurants and beach pavilions have a drinking bowl with fresh water ready for your dog.

Camping with your dog on Texel

Planning to camp on Texel with your dog? There are many dog-friendly campsites on the island. Camping Loodsmansduin is surrounded by forest, making it the perfect place for long walks with your dog. Camping Kogerstrand is ideal for beach lovers, as it is located directly by the sea and offers special pitches where you can stay with your dog. Dogs are also welcome at Camping De Shelter. This small-scale campsite is close to the beach, forest and the National Park dunes. It is sheltered and spacious, making it perfect for camping with your dog.

Looking for a holiday home on Texel where your dog is welcome? No problem. De Krim Texel offers a wide range of accommodations where dogs are warmly welcomed. Whether you choose a cosy bungalow, a luxury villa, a hotel room or a comfortable chalet, there are plenty of options available. Dogs welcome!

Dogs are very welcome at De Krim Texel. Our parks are well equipped for your holiday with your dog. There are special off-leash areas and we provide poop bags so you can easily clean up after your dog.

Special Dog wash

After a day outdoors, your dog could do with a wash. At Holiday Park De Krim, there’s even a special dog wash. Here, you can easily rinse your dog clean with warm water. You can also wash them with shampoo or apply a tick treatment. That way, your dog will be fresh and clean when you take them back to your accommodation.

No fireworks on New Year’s Eve!

The turn of the year can be unsettling for dogs. At Campsite Loodsmansduin, you can spend New Year’s Eve in a fireworks-free environment. The campsite is situated in the heart of the dunes, far away from the hustle and bustle and loud bangs. This way, your dog can enjoy some peace and quiet, and you can both relax together. A lovely way to start the new year.

Frequently Asked Questions about visiting Texel with a dog

Can my dog run free on the beach at Texel?

Dogs are permitted on the beaches on Texel and your dog may run off the lead on large sections of the beaches. On monitored beach areas and on the nudist beaches at Den Hoorn and De Cocksdorp, dogs must be on the lead all year round. To the south of pole 8 and between beach poles 12 and 21, dogs must be kept on leads from 1 March to 1 September. This is also indicated on signs.

Are dogs allowed in De Krim Texel accommodations?

Yes, dogs are allowed in various accommodations. There are also pet-free accommodations available for guests without dogs. You can view all of the accommodations where your dog is welcome.

Where can I go for a walk with my dog on Texel?

You can go for a walk on the beach, in De Dennen and the Krimbos. Dogs must be kept on a lead in some nature reserves. View the rules (in Dutch)

Dogs are welcome at many terrace. Often, there’s even water provided for your dog.
