De Slufter is a stunning and special nature reserve with an open connection to the north sea. De Slufter is a perfect environment to take long walks and to enjoy the landscape that the changing tides have created. If there is a strong storm, the area is sometimes even entirely flooded. Many birds can be observed in De Slufter, as they like the special and quiet environment to build their nests here.
There are several beautiful routes through De Slufter. You can make your own way through the area, but there are also semi-paved nature trails you can follow:
Family path De Slufter (0.8 km)
A semi-paved path suitable for families with young children and people with difficulty walking. The path offers beautiful views of the area.
Walking route De Slufter (6 km)
This route runs all the way to the beach and back. Depending on the amount of water in De Slufter, follow the yellow route or find your own way through the area towards the beach. The route is accessible all year round, but not suitable for prams.
De Muy and De Slufter walking route (11 km)
A varied walking route that takes you through the De Slufter and De Muy nature reserves, with beaches, dunes, a green valley and beautiful views. The route is not suitable for prams and can be boggy in some places, depending on the water level.
From restaurant De Slufter, you can easily reach the viewpoint. Here, you have a wonderful view over the nature reserve and you can walk straight into De Slufter. The viewpoint is wheelchair accessible and you can rent a beach wheelchair at the restaurant to enter the area as well.
