The Joris & Jet Foundation

We believe that everyone deserves to have wonderful holiday memories. The Joris & Jet Foundation, an initiative of De Krim Texel, has been committed to this since 2022. We do this by making holiday homes available to people who are struggling financially or who are going through a difficult time due to a medical condition, so that they can still enjoy a carefree weekend or midweek break. In cooperation with various partners and charities, we ensure that they can enjoy a genuinely relaxing time on Texel.

About the foundation

The Joris and Jet Foundation is named after the adventurous friends Joris Jutter and Jet Visnet, who provide entertainment at the parks of De Krim during the school holidays.

The foundation aims to provide one hundred holidays a year for charity. It does so in cooperation with foundation Reis met je Hart, Voedselbank Rotterdam and Texels Welzijn. The foundation Reis met je Hart is a platform dedicated to helping people who have not been able to enjoy a holiday for a long time due to a lack of financial means, but whose friends and family would love them to have the opportunity. Voedselbank Rotterdam is the oldest and largest food bank in the Netherlands and plays an important role in combating poverty in Rotterdam. Texels Welzijn is a social work organisation on Texel. These three organisations have been passionately committed to helping people who are less fortunate financially for many years. They select who is eligible for a holiday with the Joris & Jet Foundation.

The board

The board of the foundation consists of (f.r.t.l.) Menno Schuijl, chairman, Bart van Tongeren, treasurer, and Hendina Eelman-Bijl, secretary. The foundation raises financial contributions and non-monetary contributions from its sponsors. The sponsoring primarily consists of the provision of accommodation, goods and services by partners from Texel. The board manages the sponsor contributions and the capital of the foundation and ensures that this is used to offer a hassle-free holiday for the selected families.

The board of the foundation receives no remuneration for its work.

Malika, a single mother of two teenagers (15 and 13 years old), stayed with her family for a long weekend at the holiday home of the Joris & Jet Foundation. "The house is fantastic, and the beds were wonderful. It’s cosy and nice, super clean, has lovely furniture and even a dishwasher. And as if that were not enough, on arrival we found a gigantic grocery package with all sorts of things in it. The weather was lovely, so we had plenty to do: we cycled, swam, went to the beach, looked at the lighthouse, walked and ate delicious food."

Ashley is a single mother of three children, each of whom have special needs. They spent a long weekend at the holiday home of the Joris & Jet Foundation. “The ferry crossing was a real treat. We had never experienced anything like it before and were amazed. What a wonderful view over the sea! After what felt like just a few minutes into the journey it was already announced that we were almost there. We would have been perfectly happy if the journey had taken 10 times as long, given just how much we enjoyed this start of our holiday.”

Mariëlla and her children were also able to make some great memories together at Holiday Park De Krim in the holiday home of the Joris & Jet Foundation. “We enjoyed the swimming pool with slides and the various activities in the park. I really appreciated the supervision at the swimming pool. They paid very close attention. There are activities for the whole family. Miniature golf, crafts, playground, football. My children also enjoyed laser tagging and trampolining. My 16-year-old son and his 17-year-old girlfriend also enjoyed themselves."
