The day that is all about unity and fun. On Texel we know only too well how to do that! Various activities are offered in different villages for both young and old. Everyone here does their best to make it a party. No matter which village you are in, it promises to be a fun and enjoyable day, in honour of our King!
During King's Day the celebration takes place throughout Den Burg, there are various activities in the Wezentuin, at the Groeneplaats & on the terrace of Cinema Texel. Throughout the village there is a flea market with, among other things, stands for a snack and a drink to bring people together. De Wezentuin lends itself on this day as a stage for music, food and fun performances.
At 11:00 the Mayor kicks off the day. After this there is a lot of fun and entertainment for the little ones. The children can eat ‘poffertjes’ or jump on the bouncy castle. After playing, the children will decorate their bikes and show this to the whole village during a round with the SOS band. Furthermore, there is a six camp, live music and entertainment and of course the wheel of Fortune with great prices!
In Oosterend the morning starts full of activities for the children. Afterwards there is a parade with beautifully and creatively decorated bicycles that goes from the village hall to the musical niche. The children play various games here and can make their torches for the famous Meierblis (April 30th).
In front of the village hall of Oudeschild there is a free market and children up to group 8 can play games. The children have fun during the cake baking competition, of which the winner will be announced at the end of the afternoon. In case of bad weather, everything will continue in the village hall.
In De Cocksdorp the most beautiful decorations on the bikes are made by the children. They will of course show them to the whole village during their parade. In the afternoon there are several fun games for children, youth and adults and there is a nice market!
