Zandkes

In this area there are three shallow pools of water which attracts many species of birds such as the avocet, redshank and Great Ringed Plover. The birds come mainly for the wealth of food such as shrimp, fish and worms. Salty water runs under the dike so both salt and freshwater plants live in this area, from reeds to glasswort. The area is not accessible but can be seen up close from the IJsdijk and the cycle path.
