Easter on Texel

Enjoy your Easter holiday 2022

on Wadden Island Texel

Texel is a wonderful destination during the Easter holiday. During Easter, you can see thousands of young lambs frolicking in the Texel meadows. When it comes to the Easter feeling, there’s nothing quite like seeing the lambs outside for the first time. And let’s not forget the Texel Easter Bunny, who hides Easter eggs all over the island. In the forest, in the dunes, in the stables of Novalishoeve ... In De Koog you can even look for the Golden Egg. Here are a few fun tips for your Easter holidays on Texel.

Easter Island

On August 1, 1721, the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen left with three ships to discover the South. Starting point: the Rede van Texel. On Easter Sunday, April 5, 1722, they accidentally discovered Easter Island (3,700 kilometers off the coast of Chile).

Because of this history, artist Niek Welboren went to Easter Island. He became very impressed with the mysterious island with its giant statues and made over eighty drawings there. Therefore, together with the Easter Island board, he made sure that the best sculptor from Easter Island came to Texel. Bene Aukara Tuki Pate made a sculpture from a 6000 kilo chunk of tuff as a symbol of the bond between the two islands.'The Dreamer of Rapa Nui' stands near the 'Eilandgalerij' and looks in the direction of Easter Island.

Go into nature

Did you know that Texel is home to the largest spoonbill colony in the Netherlands? This group of birds breeds and feeds undisturbed in the De Geul nature reserve. During the excursion 'Bird colonies of De Geul', organized by Ecomare, you will learn all about these and other birds in this nature reserve.

But of course you can also explore the area without taking part in the excursion. Nature reserve De Slufter is also worth a visit. Because of the open connection with the North Sea, plants that can withstand the salty air and water grow and flourish here. Walk together through the Slufter Speurtocht. Fun for young and old!

Fun activities during Easter

All De Krim Texel campsites are open (again) during Easter and the recreation teams have put together fun programs for you*. Check out the activities during the Easter holidays at Holiday Park De Krim, Camping Kogerstrand, Camping Loodsmansduin and Camping De Shelter.
If you are staying at Villapark De Koog, Bungalowpark 't Hoogelandt or Residentie Californië, you can participate in the program at Camping Kogerstrand. Guests of Hotel Molenbos can participate in the program at Holiday Park De Krim.

There is even more to do during Easter
