'Fort De Schans'

'Fort De Schans' is a beautiful piece of heritage built in 1574, commissioned by William of Orange. The fort was intended to protect the Rede van Texel against the Spaniards but also served as a court and prison. From the public road you can see the fort and the support forts. Take a walk over the star-shaped fortress, which is freely accessible to walkers from sunrise to sunset.
